Moved by her visit to a remote leper community in rural Guangdong, Lavender organized an exhibition dedicated to eliminating the ugly stigma surrounding leprosy. Her heartening exhibition showcased over 30 artworks created by lepers, many of whom had to learn to hold paintbrushes without the use of fingers. Also featured were the simple implements on which the lepers must rely to lead some semblance of a normal life.
